Deep Water Bay is the Hong Kong Golf Club's nine-hole course on the south side of Hong Kong Island, set between the hills and the beach. It is the only golf course on Hong Kong Island that visitors can play.
Visitors are welcome Monday to Friday, except public holidays, and need a handicap certificate. Call the club on 2812 7070 before visiting to confirm a starting time. The green fee is HK$800 for 18 holes (two loops of the nine). Caddies cost HK$195 for nine holes and HK$350 for 18, and tipping is prohibited. Club hire is HK$300, and denim is not allowed.
The clubhouse has Chinese and European restaurants, a verandah overlooking the course, changing rooms with lockers, a golf shop and an indoor training room where the club's teaching professionals give swing analysis.
Weekend tee times go fast. Book ahead and check the visitor rules.
