Blue Canyon Country Club near Phuket airport has two 18-hole courses by Japanese architect Yoshikazu Kato, built around canyons and woodland on a former tin mine and rubber plantation. The Canyon Course opened in December 1991 and hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic in 1994, 1998 and 2007; the 7,129-yard Lakes Course followed in 1999.

Book through the golf booking and pro shop line (+66 76 328 088). Caddies are compulsory.

The driving range has 15 covered bays, 45 grass bays, an eight-hole putting green and a short-game area with bunkers, plus club rental and a café; it opens from 6am most days. Accommodation is at the BC Lodge and luxury apartments, and there is a spa and restaurant.

Weekend tee times go fast. Book ahead and check the visitor rules.
